some help?

Does anyone out there know of some decent (and free) photo editting software I can download?
I would like it to be fairly easy to use, I don't intend to do much with it, just sharpen up images, fix colouring, etc. Basic editting things like that.

Any help is much appreciated.

I am determined to start writing again soon. It's been too long.
